#1 MAKE A LIST: I am a die hard planner. I look forward to the future with utmost enthusiasm. Yup, I've always been this way. Always jotting down the things I looked forward to accomplishing and relishing the satisfaction as I crossed each off. I start my week off by creating a list on Sunday. Make your list concise. List them in order of importance and keep it close to you or some place visible. Your list can be anything from a specific workout schedule to creating goals like drinking more water or attending that new tabata training class you've had your eye on.
#2 PAMPER YOURSELF: Doesn't that just sound luxurious? :) Pampering is not just about spending lots of money at the spa (though, if that’s what you prefer then do it!) but what it means is that you owe it to yourself to set time aside and take care of YOU. Tired of looking at your chipped nails? Go get that mani/pedi...Personally, I find it relaxing when I do my own.
#3 PREP YOUR MEALS: This is a no brainer for those who make fitness a priority. A common denominator for the hottest and most successful bodies in the industry is that they PLAN. (see #1) They plan their workouts as well as their meals. What you nourish your body with is just as important as your fitness plan. If you’re looking for recipe ideas I highly recommend Pinterest as a source of inspiration.
#4 CLEAN AND ORGANIZE YOUR WORKING/PREPARATION SPACE: This may sound silly to some of you (maybe OCD-like), but if I don’t have my dressing room clean and organized it will throw me off the next morning as I am getting ready for the day. It means getting my beauty station together (BB cream, mascara, tinted lip balm, etc - you know important stuff), and having one of my garment racks ready with options to wear for the week. Clutter can overwhelm and take focus away, so get yourself together. Preparation is Key!
#5 SKIP THE NIGHT CAP, GET A GOOD NIGHT’S REST: I know this is a tough one, but by now you should know how important is is to get a good night’s rest. Alcohol may seem like a nice relaxing way to chill out before falling asleep but actually it can be more detrimental to your health than you realize. Repeat after me, “Alcohol is NOT a sleep aid.” For starters it disrupts your R.E.M. (rapid eye movement) and can also suppress breathing and cause sleep apnea which is one of the reasons you feel out of focus and “tired” the next day. Swap that glass of wine for a cup of relaxing tea if you need something to sip on before bedtime.
I wish you all a wonderful start to your week, get out there and kick some ass!
